I am very excited to post my first blog- nervous, but excited! Over time you will see that I am the least creative of the UCF staff- I have made my co-workers promise to not judge my blog posts very harshly!!

I came to The Ulman Cancer Fund in 2005 as a parent of a young adult with cancer. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma when she was a high school senior. One of her teachers had been at Brown with Doug Ulman and suggested we contact the fund- Ginna and I both started to volunteer and loved the passion and commitment of the staff. I was hired in January 2007- the joke is that Brock had no option but to hire me- I would not leave!

I have worn many hats since I first started- I call myself the “Queen Bee” of the office! My current position is Service and Events Coordinator. I oversee events such as The Blue Jeans Ball and golf tournament. Services that are in my domain are the Scholarship program. AA and Howard County outreach and volunteer coordination. I also do the remote patient navigation in the office, answering phone calls and emails from young adults and their families affected by cancer from all over the country. Currently, my most challenging task is being Brock’s assistant- trying to get him places on time can be quite difficult!!

I feel very blessed to work at UCF- we have a great team that is committed to helping young adults affected by cancer! I look forward to letting you know about all of the wonderful services and events going on here at the Ulman Cancer Fund!
